TEST #1 ANN SLONE CHALK PAINT

SO I GAVE IN AND ORDERED SOME
ANN SLONE CHALK PAINT SAMPLES
AND THE CLEAR WAX, AND DARK WAX.
I WANT TO TRY TO MAKE MY OWN AND
I FIGURED I HAD TO SEE HOW THE REAL THING
WORKS FIRST! THE THING THAT
I LIKED THE MOST ABOUT THIS PAINT IS THAT
THEY SAY YOU DON'T SAND OR PRIME. WHO
WOULDN'T LOVE THAT!

THIS IS A PREVIEW OF THE PROJECT I'M
DOING WITH IT.

SO I WIPED IT DOWN AND GOT OUT MY PAINT
BRUSH AND MY SAMPLE OF OLD WHITE.
2 COATS AND THE DARK WOOD STILL WASNT
COVERED. I PAINTED THE SIDES AND THE TOP WITH ABUSSON BLUE. MY SAMPLE POT OF OLD
WHITE ALMOST GONE. I DECIDED TO DO
A THIRD COAT OF PARIS GREY AND I COVERED
THE WHOLE PIECE TOOK 2 COATS OF THE
PARIS GREY.

SO FAR IM NOT A BELIEVER
AND I'M NOT YET READY TO
DRINK THE KOOL-AID.

IM LETTING IT DRY OVERNIGHT AND
PLAN ON WAXING IT AND DISTRESSING
IT AND I WILL POST THE PICTURES
WHEN I AM TOTALLY DONE.

THE PAINT WAS VERY CREAMY AND THE
PAINT STROKES DO DISAPPEAR AFTER
THE SECOND COAT. BUT I THOUGHT
THE COVERAGE WOULD BE BETTER.
I THOUGHT I COULD JUSTIFY THE COST
IF I COULD GET IT TO GO FURTHER THAN
LATEX BUT I THINK LATEX WOULD
HAVE COVERED THE SAME. MAYBE
I SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE CUBBIES
ON MY FIRST TEST AS THEY DO TAKE
UP ALOT OF PAINT JUST LIKE SPINDLES
I HATE SPINDLES !

I DIDN'T HAVE TO SAND OR PRIME AND I'M
HOPING THAT THE PAINT ADHERES AS
GOOD AS I HAVE READ IT DOES.
A FEW SPOTS HAVE ME WORRIED.

I DON'T WANT TO MAKE ANY
JUDGEMENTS ON IT UNTIL
I HAVE FINISHED A PIECE AND I DO
HAVE A FEW MORE SAMPLES TO TRY ON
OTHER PIECES SO WE WILL SEE!

IM HOPING FOR THE BEST!
