MISS BLOOM!

I LOVE THIS PIECE I DID...
SHE WAS SITTING IN THE
GARAGE FOR A YEAR JUST WAITING
TO BE LET OUT!

I USED MY DIY CHALK PAINT
RECEIPE AS I HAVE ON SEVERAL PIECES
AND I DID NOT SAND OR PRIME-EXCEPT
FOR THE IVY LEAVES AS THEY WERE
RAISED UP AND WOULD HAVE SHOWN THROUGH-
ALL I DID WAS CLEAN HER UP!

I USED 2 COATS OF MY DIY MIXTURE
TO GET THE COVERAGE.

BE SURE TO MIX THE PAINT AND CALCIUM
CARBONATE UP WELL TO AVOID ANY LITTLE
WHITE CLUMPS ENDING UP ON THE PIECE.

OVERALL THE PIECE DRIED VERY QUICKLY
AND THE FINISH LOOKS FANTASTIC, I
DID USE A REALLY GOOD BRUSH ON THIS
PIECE AND IT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE
IN THE FINISH.

I THINK ITS VERY COMPARABLE TO
ANNE SLONE PAINT, MAYBE NOT
AS SMOOTH IN THE
BOWL BUT AFTER ITS PAINTED
IT'S VERY SIMILAIR.
YOU CAN EVEN GIVE IT A LIGHT
SANDING IF YOU
WANT. I FINISHED THE PIECE WITH
SOME STAIN TO ANTIQUE AND WAX.
DISTRESSED IT UP A BIT AND STAINED THE
INSIDE A DARKER COLOR.

HERE SHE IS IN THE
BEGINNING WHEN I FOUND HER...

DON'T YOU JUST LOVE THE IVY
LOL!

AND AFTER...

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO INTRODUCE
YOU TO MY NEW ASSISTANT MUGZIE,
HE IS A 4 1/2 MONTH OLD
FRENCH BULLDOG- AND IS THE NEWEST
MEMBER OF THE FAMILY!

HOPE YOU LIKE MISS BLOOM!
I LOVE THE WAY SHE TURNED OUT,
I THINK MUGZIE LIKES HER TOO!

Scandi patchwork cushion collection

I love Scandinavian fabrics. The simplicity of the geometrical patterns and the strong colours have been used for decades but are still so timeless and work well in most interiors - contemporary or traditional. Marimekko is an obvious name in the 'Scandi' fabric design world, but I have recently discovered Lotta Jansdotter, who makes the most stunning prints and whose fabrics I have incorporated in many of my cushions. One day I might try and design my own Scandi-style fabrics, but for now I source beautiful material already available.

Here are some cushions I have made recently using various Scandinavian fabrics.

(PS: If you like this style, I do take commissions and can make a set for your own home, based on the colour scheme of your interior. Just contact me for a free consultation!)
