HICKORY DICKORY DOCK !

ANNIE SLONE CHALK PAINT

A WEEK AGO I POSTED ABOUT TRYING
OUT THE ANNIE SLONE CHALK PAINT
AND I HAVE FINISHED THE PROJECT AND
WOULD LIKE TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS...

I DIDN'T WANT TO DO A HUGE PROJECT
AS I HAD NEVER USED THE PAINT
AND WANTED TO GET A FEEL FOR IT.

I DECIDED TO DO A CUBBY HOLDER WHICH
I WANTED TO PUT MY RECENTLY
AQUIRED CLOCK COLLECTION IN. SO
THIS IS WHAT I STARTED WITH

I DIDN'T WANT TO SAND OR PRIME
AS THE PAINT SAYS YOU DON'T HAVE
TO DO ANY PREP WORK.I JUST WIPED IT
DOWN WITH A DAMP CLOTH.

I STARTED WITH A COAT OF OLD WHITE
I LIKE THE WAY THE PAINT WENT ON IT
WAS VERY SMOOTH. BUT I DEFINATLEY
NEEDED A SECOND COAT. I USED THE AUBUSSON BLUE ON THE TOP AND THE SIDES AS I WANTED TO DISTRESS THRU TO SHOW IT. I WAS
SURPRISED THAT IS NEEDED A SECOND COAT OF OLD WHITE BECAUSE I READ THE PAINT WAS
ALOT THICKER AND COVERED BETTER.
THE OLD WHITE STILL DID NOT COVER AFTER
2 COATS AND I NEEDED TO USE A THIRD COAT.
I HAD ONLY BOUGHT THE SAMPLE SIZE OF
THE PAINTS TO TRY. I DIDNT WANT TO USE
UP ALL MY OLD WHITE SO I DID THE THIRD
COAT IN PARIS GREY AND COVERED THE
WHOLE THING. THE PAINT DID STICK AND DID
NOT NEED A PRIMER. THAT, I FEEL IS
THE BEST PART OF THE PAINT. THE BEST
PART FOR ME ANYWAYS.

I WAS DONE WITH THE PAINTING AND THE
NEXT DAY I WANTED TO DISTRESS IT.
I DECIDED TO DO THE DISTRESSING BEFORE
THE WAX. I DID LOVE THE WAY THAT THE
CHALK PAINT DISTRESSED. THAT YOU ARE
ABLE TO EASILY SAND DOWN TO THE OTHER
COLOR PAINT YOU USED AND WANTED TO SHOW
THROUGH. IN MY CASE THE AUBUSSON BLUE.

AFTERWARDS I APPLIED THE CLEAR WAX
AND THEN THE DARK WAX. I DID LIKE THE
WAX AND I ALSO LIKED THE DARK WAX.
I MIXED THE DARK WAX WITH THE CLEAR
WAX FOR THE SECOND COAT AND CONCENTRATED
ON THE PARTS WHICH I HEAVLY SANDED.

I REALLY LIKE THE LOOK OF THE PAINT
IT GIVES THE PIECE AN OLDER MORE DISTRESSED
LOOK THAN LATEX. DO I LIKE THE PRICE OF
THE PAINT NO. I DON'T THINK THAT IT WENT
AS FAR AS IT SHOULD BUT I DO HAVE SOME
MORE TESTERS IN DIFFERENT COLORS WHICH
I AM GOING TO TRY ON OTHER PIECES SO I
WILL SEE IF MY OPINION CHANGES ON THAT.
AND THEN I AM GOING TO TRY TO WHIP UP
MY OWN DIY VERSION OF THE PAINT AND GIVE
THAT A TRY. DO A COMPARISON OF THE TWO.

SO HERE IS MY AFTER...

LOVE THE WAY THE BLUE CAME THROUGH
WITH THE DISTRESSING!

TIME TO RUN. HOPE YOU LIKE IT!
STAY TUNED FOR MORE TRIALS.
