MISS INDUSTRIAL
THIS PIECE FOR
ME WAS GOING OUT OF MY
COMFORT ZONE AND
DOING A SUBWAY, INDUSTRIAL
TYPE DESIGN. I'VE NEVER
DONE THIS KIND OF
IMAGE TRANSFER AND WAS
A LITTLE SKEPTICAL WHEN
I STARTED.
HERE IS THE BEFORE OF
MY DRESSER...
NOT A BAD LOOKING PIECE
BUT THE TOP WAS PRETTY
SCREWED UP AND IT WAS PRETTY
GENERIC LOOKING. I WANTED
THIS TO HAVE THE INDUSTRIAL
FEEL.
I STARTED WITH THE LETTERING
AND DECIDED TO USE CARBON
PAPER TO DO THIS,I HAD GOTTEN
SOME AT THE THRIFT STORE
PREVIOUSLY SO IT WAS TIME TO
PUT IT TO USE.
I WAS DOING ONE DRAWER AT A
TIME AND SO I SELECTED WHAT
FONT I WANTED AND PRINTED IT OUT
WITH MY COMPUTER AND INKJET
PRINTER.
I TAPED THE CARBON PAPER TO THE
DRAWER AND THEN TAPED THE
PRINTED LETTERING ON TOP.
IF THE LETTERING WAS LONGER
THEN THE PAPER I USED TWO
SHEETS AND TAPED THEM TOGETHER.
I TRACED THE LETTERING WITH A
PEN, PUSHING
DOWN QUITE HARD TO GET THE LETTERING TO TRANSFER TO THE
WOOD.
I PULLED THE LETTERING UP
SLOWLY TO BE SURE THAT IT
ALL TRANSFERED. THIS WAY IF
IT DIDN'T YOU CAN RETRACE.
AFTER THE PAPER IS OFF
I TRACED THE LETTERING BY
HAND WITH A BLACK SHARPIE
MARKER
THE NEXT STEP IS TO
FILL IN THE LETTERS WITH
BLACK PAINT.I USED THE MARKER
FIRST SO THE LETTERS WOULD HAVE
A SHARPER EDGE.
A LITTLE SANDING AFTER DRYING
AND I THEN USED THE MINWAX
POLYSHADES (MISSION OAK IN SATIN
FINISH) TO VARNISH THE DRAWERS!
FINISH) TO VARNISH THE DRAWERS!
THE TRANSFER METHOD WAS A LITTLE
TEDIOUS BUT WORKED FANTASTIC!
THIS IS MY AFTER...
I WANTED TO USE ALL WORDS
THAT I WOULD
ASSOCIATE WITH INDUSTRIAL FURNITURE TO MAKE THE
PIECE UNIQUE!
I ALSO ADDED THE STEEL
WHEELS ONTO THIS PIECE TO
ACHIEVE THIS LOOK!
I MADE THE DIY PULLS WITH
BLACK ROPE THAT I FOUND AT LOWES
AND THICK HEX NUTS. THE
BLACK ROPE WAS JUST AN IDEA THAT
I CAME UP WITH WHEN LOOKING IN THE
ROPE SECTION OF LOWES! THE PART BEHIND THE DRAWERS IS KNOTTED ON
EACH SIDE AND THEN
I GLUED THE HEX NUT DOWN TO THE
FRONT OF THE DRAWER. THE ROPE
IS PRETTY THICK SO THE HEX NUTS
WEREN'T REALLY MOVING BUT JUST
AS A PRECAUTION I GLUED THEM.

I LOVE THE WAY THEY LOOK.
I LOVE HER AND I HOPE YOU
LOVE HER TO...
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME DRAG HER
BACK INSIDE???
ALOT OF PEOPLE WERE ASKING
ME ABOUT THE PRODUCTS I USED
ON THIS PIECE SO I MADE
THIS LITTLE LIST UP...
