As I am currently pregnant (almost four months now!) I haven't had a lot of energy to keep my blog up to speed - hopefully things will improve now I am entering my 'blooming' stage! I was delighted when US based Arcadian Lighting kindly offered to write a guest blog for me, continuing my series of Eclectic Interior posts. I have certainly been inspired by the wonderful photos of colourful collections, I hope you will too. By the way, if anyone else would like to help out by writing a 'guest blog' for Nina's Apartment, do get in touch! Nx

Creating an Eclectic Interior - Creative Collections
Making collections part of everyday life gives the collector the greatest satisfaction. Hiding collections away in a closet or in storage takes the fun out of the art of collecting. It is easy to decorate with displayed collections whether they are a wall of plates, a table of old light fixtures or a cabinet of found objects.

Art lovers have the most advantageous of spaces to display their collections on blank walls. This collector fills the walls of a modern apartment with a variety of paintings and drawings, making it possible to enjoy each piece on a daily basis. Installing ceiling lights would highlight the art nicely.

Many collections, like the one pictured here, are a combination of unrelated items. This collector displays photos and cards inside a vintage picture frame surrounded by found objects such as the antique telephone, old hat and wicker basket.

A hallway is the perfect spot to display art and family photographs as this image shows. This collector displayed her collection in a clever way by hanging art in a stair step fashion along each step. The vintage suitcases on the landing are a nice touch.

Photo collections are very common and usually take quite a bit of flat surface space, however, this collector found a way to display their images beautifully without individual frames. The color blocks in red and green coordinate well with the pillows on the bed below. Don't be afraid to highlight any of your collections with a pair of wall sconces.

Many book lovers demand a lot of space to display their tomes, and of course, shelving is the most common. This collector displays their collection of the classics by color creating a beautiful backdrop to the white sofa.
